TIME TO DESIGN YOUR CUSTOM HOME

When families choose to build custom, they are sometimes surprised by the length of time the home building process can take. Choosing to start this process during the winter months allows the clients to take advantage of the “down” time of year. A few reasons to consider starting your project now include:

  1. Winter is the perfect time to start the home building process because inclement weather has no effect on the design process. Designing a home during the winter allows future homeowners to take their time and not feel rushed into a decision.  
  2. Whether you choose from one of our lots or choose a different location for your future home, purchasing land during the winter does come with one major benefit, you can see what it will be like at its “worst.”  In the winter you get a chance to assess potential lots at their least attractive. How does the water run through or does it pool? Will you get any sunlight with the lower winter sun and less foliage?
  3. The cold, winter months are the time you’ll find people have a little less going on, and that includes local government! This means submitted plans and permits may take less time to get approved.
  4. There is so much to do before you can dig and the foundation goes in place. This list includes clearing the property of any debris,  preparing the ground, and getting utilities set up.

3 acres near Bennet, NE

This beautiful story and a half home was completed on 3 acres near Bennet, NE. It had 1928 square feet on the main floor and an additional 838 square feet on the second story floor with a finished basement. We had the pleasure of working collaboratively with the homeowners to develop a design that not only looks amazing but also works great for them.
The home features an open concept kitchen, dining, and great room that is accentuated by a warming fireplace with natural stone surrounding it that climbs the 2-story tall wall above it. The kitchen features a large pantry with custom-made cabinetry.
There are many beautiful accents and thoughtful additions throughout this home. The master bathroom has heated tile floors, a walk-in tile shower, and a large soaking tub. The basement is finished with a bedroom, an office, and a full bathroom. There is a large rec room with a walk-up bar area with an electric fireplace perfect for entertaining. A large covered deck stretches across the back with a great view of the large trees lining the rear of the lot. Two of our favorite accents the homeowners chose were the addition of shiplap on the walls leading up the stairs and an X-shaped drywall beam inside a coffered space featuring a tongue and groove wood in the master bedroom.

We’re honored BIC Custom Homes had the opportunity to make such a dramatic change to this gorgeous house! This property was a complete renovation project. We had the opportunity to tear it back to the studs and completely rebuild this home. One of the more dramatic changes made to the house was converting the two-story RV camper garage into three additional bedrooms and a main floor living room! The home also features any chef’s dream kitchen. Not only does it offer an expansive 48″ gas cooktop and double ovens, but it also has a walk-in pantry to pair with it.

OUR RECENT PROJECTS

Hillcrest Community

BIC Custom Homes has had the honor of developing a community in the Hillcrest neighborhood. Our most recent addition was completed in November of 2020.  It is an 1826 square-foot ranch with an open floorplan.  It was a pre-sold build, and we enjoyed collaborating with the homeowners to develop a design that worked great for them.  The kitchen, dining, and great room all share an open space accentuated by a warming fireplace that featured a natural stone surround. This home features a finished basement with 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a large rec room with a walk-up bar area with another fireplace surrounded by stone and a mantle.  A large covered patio stretches across the back, creating the perfect outdoor entertainment space
